DICOM Preset

for an improved perception

Analyses have proven that the adjustement of monitors to the Barten model (also requested as DICOM characteristic) ideally compensated for the weaknesses of the human eye.

In so doing, the gradation of brightness values is not linear but in fact as perceived by the human eye. Similar to the ear hearing uniform loudness differently at different frequencies, our eye reacts to levels of brightness.

The differentation in perception is counteracted through the correction of every single level of brightness (a total of 255). The resultant correction curve is stored in all VIEWMEDIC monitors as DICOM preset and can be activated via the menu.
